PHILLYTENANT.ORG: EVICTION

The AIDS Law Project is proud to share the Philo Project’s video on tenants’ rights and eviction. This video, PHILLYTENANT.ORG: EVICTION, is a detailed explanation of the Philadelphia Municipal Court eviction process.

The Philo Project, founded by Emmy Award winning Philadelphia television reporter Gerald Kolpan, offers Philadelphia-area non-profit organizations free video services. We thank Philo Project for their fine and thoughtful work. We also thank Baba Ahmad Kenya, for volunteering his time and voice for the narration.

To clarify a point made in the video, tenants sued for eviction for non-payment of rent only, may “pay and stay.” This means the tenant has the right to pay the amount of the eviction judgment and remain in their home, even if the sheriff has arrived to take possession of the property.
